Where to Buy the Best Throw Pillows in 2025

Wondering where to buy the best throw pillows for a couch or bed? Today I’m sharing all of my favorite throw pillow sources! This post will include beautiful pillows from large stores such as Amazon and Target, designer shops such as McGee and Co, and small pillow shops on Etsy. My personal strategy is to mix inexpensive pillows with a few high quality, handmade pillow covers to create a designer look, on a budget. Here are the best accent pillows of 2025!

Best Fluffy Throw Pillow Inserts

If possible, I always recommend using feather inserts because they make your pillows fluffy and comfortable. In addition, a feather insert will allow you to create the karate chop pillow look, if you would like.

These 20″ feather inserts from H&M are my favorite budget friendly option. I also love the feather down inserts from West Elm for all different sizes!

Designer Tip: Check for a Zipper

When shopping for throw pillows, be sure to check if the pillow cover has a sewn seam or a zipper. If you want to swap a down alternative pillow insert for a feather insert, you will need a zipper!

Best Amazon Throw Pillows

Amazon has upped their pillow game in the last few years! There are so many options that it is a little overwhelming, but I like to narrow things down by searching for “cotton” or “linen” to find higher quality items that are still at a great price point. Here are my favorites!

Best Target Throw Pillows

Secondly, Target carries trendy, budget friendly pillows in a variety of styles. Many Target pillows have sewn seams, but the Threshold designed with Studio McGee pillows have zippers so that you can use down inserts (linked above) if you prefer. In addition, check out the Opalhouse Designed with Jungalow collection for cozy boho style!

Best Walmart Throw Pillows

Walmart offers very inexpensive pillows! I especially like the My Texas House line. Similar to Target, some of Walmart’s pillows are sewn seam, but some do have zippers. (This is something I always check in the product description when browsing online.)

Best H&M Throw Pillows

H&M carries some of the most affordable pillow covers around, especially considering that most are made of natural cotton or linen! These are pillow covers only and you will need to purchase inserts separately. H&M is my go-to store for solid or striped pillows and boho pillow options. The only downside is that their collection changes frequently, so if you see something you like, don’t wait!

Best Pottery Barn Throw Pillows

Pottery Barn offers high quality throw pillows at a moderate price point. I have purchased from their collection before and especially love the traditional patterns and styles that they offer.

Best McGee and Co Throw Pillows

Hands down some of the prettiest pillows around are from McGee and Co. Prepare to pay designer prices, but keep in mind that the pillow textiles are high quality, and curated by the one and only Shea McGee!

Best Serena and Lily Throw Pillows

Serena and Lily’s pillow collection features classic and coastal pillows with beautiful patterns, embroidery, and quality textiles. These high end pillow covers are definitely an investment, but they will add a high end look and feel to your space. I have worked with Serena and Lily in the past and have been impressed with the quality of their bedding and pillows.

Best Etsy Pillow Shops

Finally, I wanted to share where to buy the best throw pillows on Etsy. When I am able, I like to invest in high quality, handmade pillow covers from small Etsy shops. Whether you are looking for a vintage textile, floral, striped, or solid throw pillow, you will find so many beautiful options! Here are my favorite Etsy pillow shops:

Designer Tip: Support Small Shops

Pillows from small shops are often an investment because they are handmade from vintage or handwoven textiles. These pieces add so much character to a space and I love supporting small businesses when I can!
