Summer Tablescape Ideas and Dining Room Reveal

Hello friends! Today is an exciting day–I am honored to be a part of a summer tablescape tour hosted by my sweet friend Alicia from A Burst of Beautiful. Today I am sharing a simple tablescape I designed using fresh fruit and florals, all found at my local grocery store. Creamy hydrangeas and bellflowers take center stage on this summer table while simple white dishes, a casual runner, and Bosc pears fill out the table for a warm and welcoming space. Simple Summer Table Decor

I don’t know about you, but this time of year I am especially ready for simplicity. May is a busy month, and before you know it, summer will be upon us! Rather than planning an elaborate table, I decided to gather my staples. The table “runner” is actually a Turkish towel, and the dishes are melamine–perfect for a summery lunch with littles. I love these plates and bowls because they have a speckled, stoneware look.

White Hydrangeas for a Summer Tablescape

This was my first time styling hydrangeas! Their creamy, delicate petals are so summery. I added depth with greenery, berries, and a few bellflowers. If you are new to hydrangeas as well: I learned that they need a lot of water! Mine began to look wilted about a day after I brought them home, and I realized that they had drank every last drop. Thankfully, they perked back up after I replenished the water.

Tip: Place cups or mason jars inside of large stoneware vases to help style your flowers and protect your vase!

If you follow along on Instagram, you’ll know that I’ve been working hard repainting our walls. We built our home a few years ago and it came with flat paint that was not holding up well! For our open concept downstairs, I have used white almost everywhere, but wanted the dining room to have an accent wall. I ended up choosing French Colony by Behr, and love how it turned out! The minimalist abstract art was a Homegoods find and unfortunately is not available online. Here are some similar options:

Honesty time, this corner usually houses my son’s picnic table and toddler piano! But I moved one of my accent chairs in here to pretty things up.

The striped pillow is from a recent collaboration I did with Aloe Place Studio. Heather sent me three beautiful pillow covers which you can see styled in our living room here!

Summer Tablescape with Fluted Gold Chargers

To set the table, I used my favorite gold fluted chargers, blue cloth napkins, and gold flatware. Shhh: it is plastic as well! I would love to have some pretty gold flatware someday, but for now I created the look on a budget.
