Sharing my plans for an affordable powder room refresh! Muted green wall paint, an arched mirror, and upgraded hardware will transform this builder grade bathroom.

Budget Friendly Powder Room Refresh Mood Board

Hello friends! I hope you are all enjoying summertime–whether that means lounging by the pool, spending time with family, or working on projects! We have been doing a little bit of each, and just returned from a week long vacation with family. It was great to unplug, read, and relax, but I am SO ready to jump into a new project: an affordable powder room refresh! Our builder grade bathroom could use some love and I think a fresh coat of paint and a few upgrades will make all the difference. I’m hoping to complete this project for around $500, and will update you when I post the reveal. Let me show you the before, and talk you through my mood board!

Powder Room Before

Powder Room Before - pharmacy mirror, modern brass light fixture, white cabinetry and toilet

This was the situation in our powder room a few weeks ago. The walls are Shoelace by Behr in satin and I just recently painted the door the perfect greige. A while back I added the brass pharmacy mirror and modern brass sconce (with LED globe lightbulbs).

I fell in love with this arched rattan wall mirror from Target’s collection with Studio McGee, and went ahead and ordered it as the first step in this powder room refresh. It is the only change I have made thus far, but what a difference! The new mirror is larger, the arched shape breaks up all of the straight lines, and I prefer it without the built in shelf.

So, this is the current situation! It is not bad at all, but pretty bland and just feels like a blank canvas to me. I’m ready to finally tackle this space and create a space that we love (on a budget)!

Landscape Art | Still Life Art | Modern Brass Sconce | Rattan Arched Wall Mirror | Brushed Nickel Bathroom Faucet | Brushed Nickel Towel Ring | Striped Hand Towel | Faux Leather Tissue Box Cover | Brown Stoneware Vase | Dried Florals (similar) | Soap and Lotion Set | Paint Color

Here is my powder room refresh plan! As I mentioned, this will be a simple and affordable makeover. I am not replacing the vanity or flooring. The biggest expense will be wall paint, and I am so excited about it! I decided to go with a muted, mid-toned green to make a statement. I still need to swatch colors and decide for sure, but the color on my mood board is Benjamin Moore Intrigue.

Apart from painting the walls, I will simply be swapping out the faucet, towel ring and toilet paper holder, adding knobs to the vanity, and updating decor. My goal is to recreate the look of the McGee and Co artwork on a budget (with art printables and standard frames). The image below shows what it will look like when completed:

So what do you think? I’m planning to paint next week, and will be sharing on Instagram! Stay tuned for the reveal on the blog later this month. And let me know: have you updated your powder room? What made the biggest difference in your space? XO,
