I designed these printable tags to help you decorate kids boo baskets or Halloween party favors. The soft orange and peachy pink tones have a retro vibe that I love!

Gift tags are also a great way to add a personal touch to spooky treats in small gift bags. Such a fun way to say “Happy Halloween (or “Hocus Pocus”) to your friends and neighbors.

In addition to the traditional shapes for tags and flags, I also included some cute Halloween shapes. You will find a smiling pumpkin, ghost, bat, and candy corn.

While I love the look of spooky Halloween gift tags from Etsy, they are an additional cost. You may not want to spend more on custom tags if you are already purchasing gifts for your kids or classroom parties. So, I wanted to create a budget friendly option just for my readers!

These free printable Halloween tags and flags come as a digital file with two full sheets that you can print at home (or school, for my teacher friends).

In the rest of this post, I will share tips for printing and styling your Halloween tags.

How to Print Paper Halloween Tags and Flags

Here are some tips and tricks for printing these cute tags and spooky paper shapes at home!

  1. You can use standard printer paper, but white cardstock is best for sturdiness.
  2. Make sure your printer settings are on “color,” “best quality,” and “single sided.”
  3. Allow the ink to fully dry before cutting out the printable tags.
  4. Use large scissors or a paper cutter for the best results.
  5. For tags, use a hole puncher on the white circle to create space for string.
  6. For flags, use tape to attach the back of the flag to a wooden dowel rod.

Pretty simple! If you have any questions about printing or assembling your tags and flags, leave me a comment at the bottom of this post.

How to Style Printable Halloween Gift Tags

Now that you have assembled your printable tags and flags, a perfect way to make them even more fun is by decorating them with ribbon.

For the Halloween season, I chose black and silver glitter ribbon, as well as black and white string that was leftover from this adorable felt ball garland. This star ribbon or black tulle ribbon are also so much fun!

To make a cute gift tag, place the middle of the string through the hole, and then tuck the two ends of the string through the loop. This helps the tag lay flat when you tie it onto goody bags or gifts.

As for the flags, you can dress them up by tying a knot or bow of ribbon on the wooden dowel. Double up the ribbon or use two colors to create different designs!

Putting Together Boo Baskets for Kids

I already shared a full post with 100+ Best Halloween Boo Basket Ideas for Kids! However, I did want to include one picture here with the baskets assembled so that you can see how I styled my printable tags and flags.

On the front of the boo basket, I hung the cute tags with striped string. You could easily write the child’s name at the bottom of the tag or on the ghost’s tummy if you would like!

As for the flags, I simply stuck the wooden dowels in the sides of the baskets. It makes the presentation so fun and cute, and I know my kids will love them come October.

Other Ways to Use Fun Halloween Printables

There are so many creative ways to use these printable Halloween gift tags, flags, and shapes! Here are some additional ideas.

  1. Create a garland using the ghost, pumpkin, bat, and candy corn! Print a few copies and tape them to pretty string or twine in a pattern.
  2. Secondly, you can stick the flags and spooky shapes to the inside of your windows, facing out, to add some Halloween fun to your home.
  3. Thirdly, scale down the size of the PDF document when printing (try 4 copies per page) and use the mini flags and paper shapes for cupcake toppers! When making tiny flags, use toothpicks instead of wooden rods.
  4. Similar to idea #3, you can use the mini version of these printables for a dollhouse. My daughter has been very into her dollhouse lately, so I may need to try this!
