Ready to decorate for fall? The months of September and October are my favorites of the year, and I love getting in the mood by adding cozy fall decor to our home. There are so many ways to decorate for fall. Personally I like a subtle approach, incorporating decor basics like cozy layers and organic textures with more obvious fall decor like pumpkins and fall leaves. What Is Cozy Neutral Fall Decor?
To begin, I wanted to give a quick explanation of neutral fall home decor. I do not mean decorating without any color whatsoever! Rather, neutral fall decor brings in warmth and subtle color with organic elements. Fall florals and stems, wooden accents, terracotta vases, woven baskets, natural textiles, and earth tones are all perfect for neutral fall decor. The cozy yet restrained color palette creates a neutral fall vibe.
Neutral Fall Decor Ideas
Now let’s dig into those neutral fall decor ideas to make your home feel cozy and warm for the season!
1. Fall Stems, Florals, and Branches
Some of my favorite neutral decor items are artificial fall stems and flowers. I have collected them slowly over the years and enjoy bringing them out in August as my first decor of the season! Faux stems like these plum leaf branches are the perfect transition between summer and fall and can styled on a table, kitchen island, or dresser. Check out my roundup of the best fall florals! Here are a few favorites:
2. Cozy Aesthetic Decor
Another simple way to style your home with neutral fall decor is to focus on a cozy aesthetic. Bring out your favorite cozy throw blankets, pillows, and candles. Use neutral decor basics that you already have! Incorporate everyday items like coffee mugs for your kitchen decor, or stacks of favorite books in a living room or bedroom. Anything that feels cozy is perfect for a neutral fall vibe.
3. Neutral Fall TV Art
Did you know that you can display artwork on any smart TV? This is a great way to add neutral fall decor to your home on a budget. You can purchase budget-friendly digital artwork, enjoy it throughout the season, and easily swap it out. Check out my roundup of fall Frame TV art for a huge selection, but here are some top picks:
Remember: You do not need a Frame TV to display art! Check out my guide to displaying art on any TV.
4. Cozy Fall Bedding with Lots of Layers
As soon as those crisp autumn days arrive, I get excited to break out my flannel sheets and add cozy layers to my bed. I styled our guest room with a plaid duvet cover and tasseled throw to create this cozy neutral bedroom. Try folding back your comforter or duvet to make your bed look fluffy, and add fall berry stems in a vase for an extra touch of fall.
5. Neutral Fall Porch with Pumpkins
Don’t forget your home’s exterior! Last year I styled our fall porch with cinderella pumpkins. I ended up incorporating some traditional orange pumpkins too because my kiddos love them, but the softer tones of the cinderella pumpkins helped create a neutral look. Use a coir doormat, woven baskets, and a seasonal wreath to simply style a neutral fall porch.
6. Earth Tones and Organic Elements
When it comes to neutral fall decor ideas, focus on nature’s hues and textures. Seagrass baskets, terracotta planters, and wooden bowls help create a cozy fall aesthetic without screaming “fall.” Some of my favorite organic decor items in our living room are this extra large vase and wooden chain. Here are some more finds:
7. Neutral Vintage Fall Artwork
Similar to displaying vintage art on your TV, you can print fall artwork (or using a printing service–I like Mpix). This is an affordable way to add neutral fall decor to your home! The gallery wall in my office nook combines vintage artwork and wood and metal frames. I enjoy this view year round, but it was definitely inspired by my love for all things fall!
8. Neutral Fall Tablescape
Finishing up this list of neutral fall decor ideas is a neutral and cozy fall tablescape. I styled this space last year with fabric pumpkins, terracotta cloth napkins, and gold plate chargers. This is another way to use home decor that you already have such as vases, bowls, dishes, and candle holders in a new way. Here are some more neutral pumpkins and tablescape basics:
