To begin, I wanted to give a quick explanation of cozy neutral fall home decor. By “neutral,” I do not mean decorating without any color. Rather, the goal is to bring in subtle color and warmth with natural elements.
For example, earthy fall colors such as rust, terracotta, gold, olive, and brown create an autumn vibe without screaming “pumpkin spice.” 😉
To choose a fall color scheme for your home, pick a few neutrals and/or earth tones that will blend well with your existing decor.
If your home is already relatively neutral, you can add more saturated colors such as crimson and burnt orange. On the other hand, if you have a colorful home you may prefer to use earthy browns and golds.
In this way, you can create a cozy fall aesthetic by adding just a few items, rather than redecorating an entire house for each new season.

In addition, decorating with neutrals and decor basics is affordable. You can easily refresh your home for the cozy time of year without spending a lot on season-specific decor.

To begin, I had to share my favorite fall decor item which is fall foliage. I have been collecting artificial fall leaves over the years, and it always feels exciting to bring them out in August for early fall decor!
Faux fall leaves like these purple foliage branches create the perfect transition between summer and fall. They have a more realistic look than your average fake leaves. Style them on a dining room table, kitchen island, or entry console for a beautiful focal point.

Cozy Throw Blankets
Secondly, one of my favorite ways to make our home feel cozy when cooler weather arrives is by styling throw blankets on couches and beds. My favorite warm blankets for cooler temperatures are faux fur throws and chunky knit blankets.
Simply drape blankets over the arm of a chair, the back of a sofa, or the end of the bed. For example, I always have one in my home office for fall days with cooler temperatures!

Fall Throw Pillow Covers
Thirdly, I love to mix up my throw pillow covers for fall with cozy textiles such as velvet and boucle. In addition, try using patterns such as plaids or floral block prints for a cozy neutral look.

Fall Coffee Table Decor
Another way to dress up a living room for the fall season is with coffee table decor. Here I used burnt orange, olive green, and neutral coffee table books to bring in fall colors. After that, I placed ceramic beads and a gold canister on top to complete the look.

Cozy Bedroom Decor
As soon as crisp autumn days arrive, I get excited to break out my flannel sheets and add cozy layers to my bed! Last year I styled our guest room with a plaid duvet cover and tasseled throw. On the other hand, a few years ago I used floral sheets with terracotta, ivory, and blue throw pillows. Which design do you prefer?
Fall is a great time to make your bed feel extra luxurious. Try folding back your comforter or duvet for a fluffy look. After that, drape a chunky knit blanket at the foot of the bed for one more cozy layer.

Decor Staples and Natural Elements
When it comes to cozy neutral fall decor ideas, focus on textures and fall hues from the natural world. Decor staples such as seagrass baskets, terracotta planters, and wooden bowls help create a cozy fall aesthetic without being over the top. Plus, you probably already have a few around your home!
For instance, one of my favorite organic decor items in our living room is this extra large vase.
Faux Fall Florals
In addition to fall leaves, artificial florals are perfect for fall. Style one type of flower in a glass vase or planter, or create a fall floral arrangement with a variety of blooms and stems.

Fall Front Porch with Real Pumpkins
Don’t forget your home’s exterior! Last year I styled a fall front porch with cinderella pumpkins. I ended up using traditional orange pumpkins too because my kiddos love them, but the softer tones of the heirloom pumpkins helped create a neutral look.
Look for white pumpkins and green pumpkins at your local grocery store (especially Trader Joe’s) or pumpkin patch. They can be a little more difficult to find, so you may need to shop around. On the other hand, you can use faux pumpkins for your porch.
To finish off a cozy neutral fall front door, style an outdoor rug, coir doormat, woven baskets, mums, and fall wreath.
TV Art for the Fall Season
Did you know that you can display artwork on any smart TV? This is a great way to add cozy neutral fall decor to your home on a budget.
You can purchase affordable digital artwork from Etsy which is pre-sized to fit a TV screen. Another great option that is completely free is to play a YouTube art slideshow.

Cozy Vintage Fall Artwork
Similarly, you can print fall artwork at home or by using a printing service like Mpix. This is a great way to add cozy fall decor, on a budget.
For example, the gallery wall in my office nook (which recently moved to my closet office) combines vintage artwork with wood and metal frames. I enjoy this view year round, but it was definitely inspired by my favorite season!
You can also look for antique artwork at thrift stores and estate sales. They often have vintage frames for a unique look.
Neutral Fall Dining Room Table
Fall is the perfect time of year to create a beautiful table setting. This is another easy way to use home decor that you already have such as vases, bowls, dishes, and candle holders. With Thanksgiving around the corner, I like to start planning!
I styled this cozy fall tablescape last year with linen fabric pumpkins, terracotta cloth napkins, and gold fluted plate chargers.
Dining Table with White Pumpkins
Here is another fall table setting with different colors!
A few years back I created this cottage farmhouse tablescape with large white pumpkins and eucalyptus for a statement piece. Hints of blue brought a little color to an otherwise neutral space.
Mini Pumpkins Around the Home
Finally, I love using miniature pumpkins around our home for fall. My favorites are the small white pumpkins called baby boo pumpkins! You can often find them at the grocery store during the autumn season.
