We often neglect our personal spaces, but having a peaceful and cozy bedroom is a form of self care for me. So, this fall I’ve been working on remodeling our owner’s suite! Over the last few months we added new floors and built in wardrobes, but I saved the biggest reveal for last. Today I’m excited to share our grandmillennial bedroom makeover in partnership with The Home Depot, featuring classic furniture, quilted bedding, and vintage inspired decor. I even found the perfect chair for reading and sipping tea!

What Is Grandmillennial Style?
Grandmillennial style may be a current trend, but it is rooted in the interior design of centuries past. The name “grandmillennial” refers to the fact that millennials in their 20s and 30s are adopting classic design elements for their homes.
Grandmillennial style resembles traditional, French country, and English cottage styles. Popular elements include floral patterns such as toile and chintz, classic wooden furniture, vintage brass light fixtures, ruffles, pleats, and wall trim.
While many rooms in our home have a grandmillennial look, I decided to go all in with our bedroom makeover!
Grandmillennial Bedroom Furniture
To begin this space, I chose The Home Depot’s exclusive Ashdale Ivory Bed (size king). The bed features beautiful details such as carved legs and a sculpted headboard and footboard–very grandmillennial. In addition, the Ashdale bed is available in a patina finish if you prefer a natural wood look!
Secondly, to match the headboard I picked two Bonawick Ivory Nightstands. They are very sturdy and provide a large tabletop of plenty of storage for books and necessities.
Thirdly, remember the perfect reading chair that I mentioned? This French country inspired peach orange velvet armchair is so comfy and inviting. I especially love the turned wooden legs and metal casters! Pairing the chair with a more modern boucle ottoman helps create the grandmillennial look.
Finally, I have been on the hunt for a stylish way to store papers and fell in love with the Hamilton File Cabinet. The ivory tone matches the bed and nightstands, and it works perfectly as an accent table–you would never know that it is a filing cabinet! Tap to see more furniture options from The Home Depot.
Cozy Grandmillennial Bedding
When it was time to choose bedding for our grandmillennial bedroom, I wanted to focus on quilted textures and classic patterns. So, I chose this pure cotton quilt and euro shams to match in the color Clay.
I paired the quilt with a teal toile quilted throw blanket for extra coziness. Finally, these cream fringe pillows add a hint of modern boho style to balance the traditional design.
I love how the clay colored quilt matches the velvet chair! In this past I have erred on the side of neutrals for our bedroom, but lately I’m feeling drawn to the grandmillennial style with more color.
Grandmillennial Bedroom Art and Decor
Thirdly, let’s talk about grandmillennial art and decor. Traditional patterns and florals are the way to go, so I chose these cozy, fully lined plaid curtains for the windows and framed flower art for the walls.
After that, I filled out the reading corner with a weathered white floor length mirror. The arched top and ornate wooden trim are perfect for grandmillennial style!
Vintage light fixtures are another important feature of grandmillennial decor, so I chose a vintage inspired table lamp with textured glass and gold base. Wooden vases, a large planter, and a faux olive tree finish off the look.
To round out our grandmillennial bedroom decor, I styled artificial flowers in a vase on top of the cabinet. The arrangement has a vintage coastal look with palm branches, peonies, and stems.
Teal and Pink Vintage Look Rug
Finally, a vintage look rug completes our grandmillennial bedroom makeover! The floral pattern has tones of beige, green, peach pink, teal, and gray. Check out more rugs and decor finds at The Home Depot!
