Hello friends! Thank you so much for stopping by my brand new blog. Today I want to jump right in! I styled this cozy autumn bookcase yesterday with some new finds: DIY book bundles, sprigs of flowers, neutral pumpkins and a copper frame. Although we are still in the thick of August, I thought you may enjoy some farmhouse bookshelf decor ideas for fall. If you can’t stand the thought of cooler days and pumpkins, save this post for later!
Chalk Painted Farmhouse Bookshelf
This rustic bookshelf was originally a rich mahogany color. I lightened it up for our space with white chalk paint a few months ago. For a while it stood here empty, and I’m so excited to have it filled with cozy textures and greenery now!
Copper Frame and Vintage Book Page
This pretty copper frame was a Hobby Lobby find. I love the color for fall, and the contrast between the cooler white bookcase and the warm frame. The framed book page is from an old copy of William Wordsworth’s Prelude. I discovered the book at a vintage shop on a family vacation years ago, so it holds a special memory for me.
Neutral Pumpkins for Farmhouse Bookshelf Decor
All of the pumpkins you see here are also from Hobby Lobby. I especially love the rustic, gnarled stem on this cream pumpkin.
These stripey green pumpkins will end up in our dining room, but they are cute here for now. I love their imperfect, wobbly shape.
DIY Farmhouse Book Bundles
Confession: I tore apart a bunch of my childhood paperbacks to make these DIY book stacks! I saved my most treasured books, of course, but these were destined to be recycled or doomed to a dusty library shelf. Instead, I realized I could create some lovely texture by removing the covers and tying them up with twine. I love the way they turned out!
I’m working on incorporating warmer tones into our home for the fall, and book bundles are a pretty and inexpensive (in this case, free!) way to do so.
Pom Pillow and Tasseled Throw
The white pom-pom pillow on the bottom is my last Hobby Lobby find. I love the cozy look of velvet and pom-poms for cooler weather! Finally, the throw blanket on the right actually belongs in our guest room, but I love the stripes and tassels against our blue hand-me-down armchair. Sometimes it is fun to “shop your house” for items to use in a new way.
