Hello sweet friends! It’s been a while since I have shared new interior photos of our home. I love swapping out pillow covers and decorative accents for an inexpensive refresh of our space. This season, summery hues of blue and gray combined with crisp white linens and seagrass baskets make our summer living room feel light and airy! Keep reading for tips and sources.

Summer Ladder Shelf Update
One of the main ways I refresh our living room is by swapping out decor on our ladder shelf. You can see autumn here, and Christmas here!
I incorporated some new, blue coffee table books with other books I already had. Anytime you see older looking books in my decor, you can safely assume they are from Goodwill! Check out their hardback section and remove the paper covers to see what color lies beneath. The stackable seagrass baskets are from IKEA, and the blue accented vase is from TJ Maxx / Homegoods (I recently discovered the home section on the TJ Maxx website and am so impressed with their stylish and affordable decor). I love how the pops of muted blue and teal add a summer vibe to this space.
Coastal Artwork and Simple Bookcase Decor
I refreshed this side of the room with a new painting, also from TJ Maxx. Lately I feel drawn to coastal artwork–you can almost feel the refreshing, salty beach breeze! At the same time, the simple color palette and impressionistic style lend themselves to any season, so I won’t feel like I need to remove it at summer’s end. All of the bookshelf decor are pieces I already had.
Below you can also see (gasp) our television! I usually shy away from showing the big black box, but enjoy seeing how other people style their tvs, so thought I would share. After our search for a tv stand, we settled on this one from Target. You may have noticed that it is not weathered wood! Honestly, I was starting to feel a bit tired of the weathered look, and while it is beautiful in a lot of spaces, decided it wasn’t right for ours. My only complaint about this piece is that it has slightly green undertones in certain lighting, but overall I love the color and all that storage!
I have never shown a full view of our living room, but here it is! We do not currently have a playroom as our basement is unfinished, so Bug’s toys are strewn (in an organized manner 😉 ) throughout our house. While it may not be the prettiest accent, his play kitchen fits perfectly on the wall under our family photos, and I love watching him pretend to cook oatmeal–his favorite food!
Pillows and Throws for Summer
As I have mentioned before, one of the most budget-friendly ways to update a living room is with pillow covers! Almost all of ours are from H&M and are very affordable, often under five dollars. For summer I like teals and grays with a crisp white pattern thrown in. Our striped throw is from Target; I pulled it from our guest room to use here because stripes just feel summery and clean to me.
And that is our summer living room! I would love to see your space too, so please leave a link to your blog below if you have one! Otherwise, leave a comment sharing your favorite way to refresh your home for summer. I always enjoy hearing from you!

Caitlin! This is so beautiful and clean, I love the way that you styled your shelves and your pillows! Thank you for sharing for Our Inspired Collection!
I really like the ladder shelf! Where did you buy it? I have’nt found one that I like as much as this one.
Hi Rhonda! Thanks for the question! It is the Marinez 76” Leaning Bookcase from Wayfair! I did get it over a year ago so not sure if it is still available! 🙂
