Hello friends! Today I’m excited to show the progress I have made in my daughter’s room. It is hard to believe, but Ladybug turned two this summer and was very excited to transition to a big girl bed. I’ve been daydreaming of neutral botanical wallpaper for months and was so excited to finally install it! I also added a blush rug and cream upholstered bed. If you love subtle and minimal kids room decor, I think you will enjoy these neutral big girl room ideas. Let’s get started!

1. Big Girl Room Ideas: Botanical Foliage Wallpaper

As mentioned, I spent some time hunting for botanical wallpaper for an accent wall. I wanted something a bit dainty and feminine, but also neutral. I reached out to Livette’s Wallpaper about collaborating, and was so excited when they said yes! This is their Botanical Foliage wallpaper in a custom color way–white leaves and a “mist” background. Check out my reel on Instagram to watch me install the wallpaper. I selected the self-adhesive (peel and stick) option and was able to hang it in just a few hours.

Isn’t it dreamy? I’m still debating whether to add artwork above the bed. I think the wallpaper makes such a statement on its own!

2. Cream Upholstered Bed for an Easy Transition

One of the biggest decisions for a big kid room is the bed. I considered a Jenny Lind bed, but in the end decided that it wouldn’t be a good fit for my little acrobat!

Brookside Sara Upholstered Bed with Horizontal Channels, cream tufted bed

Then I discovered the Sara Upholstered Channel bed! You may remember that I have partnered with Brookside Home Designs in the past for the headboards in both our primary bedroom and guest room. Their designs are classic, beautiful, and easy to assemble. They were kind enough to send me the Sara bed for Ladybug’s room (size full). I was able to put it together while my kiddos “helped” 😉 which is saying something! Check out my highlights on Instagram to see some silly behind the scenes.

The Sara bed is perfect for Ladybug because it is soft (no bumped heads!) and lower to the ground since it is a platform bed. We kept the crib in her room for a few days, but she never went back to it. Thankful for the easy transition because I know it isn’t always that way!

3. Big Girl Room Ideas: Neutral Layered Bedding

I love these budget-friendly sheets, we actually have them in every bedroom in different colors (solid colors here). I thought it would be cute to fold them down and see the classic stripe pattern as a contrast to the botanical wallpaper.

Boll and Branch Matelassé Windowpane Duvet Set

For a duvet cover, I am using this Matelassé Windowpane Duvet Set that was kindly sent to me by Boll and Branch. It is so soft and lovely–I’m a bit jealous that my two-year-old has the nicest bedding in the house! The quilted look of the duvet cover adds wonderful texture and coziness. Browse all of Boll and Branch’s duvet cover sets!

To finish off the bedding, I added this blush gauze throw. It is lightweight and such a pretty soft pink. I am still finalizing the pillows, and just used a large one that I already had from TJ Maxx.

4. Blush Rug with a Vintage Look

Last but certainly not least, the rug! I have fallen in love with printed rugs that give the appearance of a vintage piece at a fraction of the price. See another one in our guest room. I had this pretty blush rug picked out for months and it was so fun to finally order and lay it down! This is the 7’6″ x 9’6″ under a full bed. It adds just the right amount of pink while still feeling subtle.

Thanks so much for stopping by to see my progress in Ladybug’s room and big girl room ideas! While I love a quick room makeover, I am enjoying taking my time on this one. I still need to style the dresser, bookshelf, and glider, so stay tuned for the final reveal! Tell me, do you have any favorite pieces for a big kid room? Have you ever used wallpaper (traditional or peel and stick)? I always enjoy hearing from you in the comments. XO,
