Welcome back friends–it is One Room Challenge REVEAL DAY! After many months of planning, prepping, sourcing, and styling, I’m so excited to reveal our modern traditional guest room, completed for the Fall 2019 One Room Challenge. This space features neutral textures, rust and brass accents, and a casual style. This has been my first time taking part in the ORC as a guest participant, and I have absolutely loved it. There is nothing like a deadline (and hundreds of inspiring friends!) to help you complete a space in your home.
In case you are just dropping in, you may see my previous updates below:

Let’s take a quick look back before the reveal photos!
Guest Bedroom Before and Mood Board
There was nothing awful about our guest room before, but it lacked coziness and character, and just did not fit my style. Additionally, it really needed a headboard, rug, and window treatments.
I loved putting together my mood board, and imagining simple and budget friendly ways to transform this space from “meh” to warm and inviting. I wanted to incorporate lots of texture, earthy tones, and natural elements like raw wood and greenery. In retrospect, I can see how the season (fall, my favorite!) influenced me throughout the design process.
One Room Challenge Reveal!
Before sharing the reveal photos, I have to say a huge THANK YOU to my sponsors, without whom I could not have completed this challenge. I have loved working with you!
And now without further ado, here is our guest room REVEAL! Keep reading for some side-by-side before and afters, as well as product info 🙂
I can hardly believe this is the same room! We are so happy with the transformation, and can’t wait to have family come stay for the holidays. This space reflects my love of fall with warm and earthy tones (brass, rust, black, olive) and cozy textures. I did not set out to create an autumnal room, but it turned out that way, and I just love it 🙂
From a design perspective, the guest room is now much more balanced and visually interesting. Modern frames and a boho pillow and baskets contrast traditional elements like the headboard, nightstands, and sconces. A vintage style rug adds character, and the layered bedding looks so much more inviting. This was my first time planning, sourcing, and styling a whole room and I enjoyed the process so much!

Just gorgeous!!! I love the rug so much, and that art! Perfect balance of light and dark in this space, too. Modern traditional is the term I use for my style too so of course I love this! Great job!
Beautifully done! The Target throw pillows, are those the chocolate or bronze option?
Hi Megan! Thanks for reaching out 🙂 It seems they have added more color options since I picked mine up in the store, but I believe they are “chocolate”!
Beautiful room! What is the paint color?? I must know!
Hi Sahar! It is Cameo White by Behr! 🙂
This is an inspiration! Beautifully done. Where are the curtains from, please?
Hi Nicole! Here they are: https://rstyle.me/cz-n/ebdciicicsp Color is sour cream!
I’m wondering where I can find the tall baskets with lids?
Hi Stephanie! I apologize for the delay here. These baskets were from Homegoods several years ago, but check out my roundup of lidded baskets for lots of options!
